Putnam Sheriff Offers Voluntary Vessel Inspections

PUTNAM, N.Y. – The Putnam County Sheriff's Office has announced the schedule of voluntary inspections of vessels for area boaters on Lake Mahopac, Oscawana Lake and the Hudson River.

The aim for these voluntary inspections is to let boaters know about required equipment and local regulations.

Inspections will be on May 30, 31 and June 6.

  • The Mahopac Marina, on 897 S. Lake Boulevard in Mahopac, will have inspections on May 30 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Two marinas will have inspection periods on May 31: The Cold Spring Boat Club at 5 New Street will hold inspections from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the Oscawana Lake Marina at 96 Dunderberg Road in Putnam Valley will hold them from 1 to 4 p.m.
  • The MacDonald Marina, at 1 Marina Drive in Mahopac, will close out the voluntary inspection period on June 6 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
